Green Eco Roofing Systems
A green roof (also known as a living roof, grass roof, sedum roof or roof garden) is a roofing system characterised when the roof of a building is either completely or partially covered by a vegetation layer. A green roofing system will normally include the vegetation layer over a waterproof membrane layer and may also include a root barrier layer and irrigation and drainage systems if needed.
At Anderson Roofing, we use the Riefa Board system, which offers an organic, economical and lightweight alternative to traditional green roofs. A living roof has many benefits such as, absorbing rainwater, providing insulation, energy conservation, extending the life of your roof, creating a habitat for common wildlife and providing a more aesthetically pleasing environment.
An innovation in Green Roofing Systems, Riefa Boards are a patented mixture of fibres, grains and mineral additives. This allows Riefa Boards to provide a sustainable, stable and secure environment for hundreds of different types of vegetation to thrive, including wildflower, sedum, herbs and chamomile.
Riefa Boards are easily installed and can be fitted directly to any waterproof, root-resistant membrane, it is therefore completely suitable for retro-fitting to existing compatible pitched and flat roofs.
